Haritaki or Harad (Terminalia chebula) has been anchored in Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine for several thousand years and is considered a superfood.

In India, this plant is also known as the "queen of medicinal plants" because it has an immense spectrum of effects. Buddha statues holding a Haritaki branch also testify to the cultural and medicinal importance of this plant.

This evergreen tree is found in the forests of India, China, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Together with the fruits Amalaki and Bibhitaki, Haritaki forms the famous Ayurvedic remedy Triphala, which is said to have rejuvenating properties.
