ORGANIC Ashwagandha from India (Withania somnifera)

This plant, also known as Indian ginseng , sleeping berry or winter cherry , has played an important role in Ayurvedic naturopathy for over 3000 years. Among other things, it should increase energy, strength and performance, but at the same time lead to inner peace and reduce stress. For this reason, Ashwagandha is also very popular with competitive athletes who want to eat naturally and holistically.

Essentially, the basic principle of Ayurveda is to balance the three constitutions (doshas) that make up us and everything around us. They give each person their unique, individual constitution. When one or more of these three doshas becomes excessively imbalanced, a person is susceptible to disease.

In the ancient Ayurvedic scriptures, Ashwagandha is considered the best medicinal herb for balancing Vata .

Along with Pitta and Kapha, Vata is one of the three doshas in Ayurveda. Vata consists of the elements air (vayu) and ether/space (akasha) and has its main seat in the large intestine.

Deriving from this, the properties of Vata can then also be described. Vata is airy, clear, light, unstable, cool, dry, creative, flexible, spontaneous, sensitive, fond of travel, happy. The typical Vata person is (among other things) slim, slender, has cold hands and feet, quick learner but forgets easily, a light sleeper, infrequent hunger and an aversion to cold, windy weather.

Since vata is the only dosha that is mobile, it also disrupts the other doshas when it is out of balance. Therefore, an excess of Vata should be treated as a priority so that it does not negatively affect the other doshas.

Ashwagandha also helps very well with problems falling asleep and has a rejuvenating effect.

In addition, it is strengthening and a nourishing tonic for the muscles. Lowers the stress hormone level and has an anxiolytic effect in cases of anxiety.

Dosage/Application :

Depending on your needs, the general recommendation is 3 to 6 grams per day, which is about 1 to 2 teaspoons. The powder can be stirred into drinks or food.

Note : Ashwagandha (Sanskrit for "the smell of a horse") has a very unique flavor that takes some getting used to. We recommend stirring it into a small glass of water rather than mixing it into food.
